2014 Ontario Peer Development Initiative Lighthouse Awards
 
Toronto, October 6, 2014 — Paul Nguyen received the Pay It Forward Award at the 5th annual OPDI Lighthouse Awards dinner at the Holiday Inn Toronto-Yorkdale. Paul was honoured for overcoming mental health issues and using his lived experience to advocate for change to systems and practices in Toronto.

The Pay It Forward award is named in honour of Linda Chamberlain, a psychiatric survivor and award-winning mental health champion in Toronto. Award recipients include Susan Macphail, director of My Sisters' Place, Community Builder's Award, and George Chapman, chair of Self Help Alliance, Peer of the Year Award. The evening was hosted by Deborrah Sherman, OPDI executive director, and Allyson Theodorou, OPDI manager of finance and member services.
